Workspaces

Sharing

Invite people from outside your account into a workspace.

Everyone in your account can already use its workspaces. To work with someone outside it, invite them.

Inviting, withdrawing and removing are done in the dashboard: the API has no route for them. Once someone has joined, their own API key uses the workspace like any other, as the sections below show.

Invite

On a workspace's People tab, enter their email address. They get an email with a link that lasts 14 days. Signed in to Drex with that address, they open the link and join; anyone else who opens it is turned away, so a forwarded link is no use. Someone without a Drex account signs up first, then joins.

Inviting the same address again sends a new link and the old one stops working. An account can send 30 invitations an hour.

From code, nothing changes until they have joined. After that, a key they made lists the workspace:

curl https://console.nace.ai/v1/workspaces \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NACE_API_KEY"

GET /v1/workspaces lists the workspaces the key's creator can use: their account's, and those they were invited into.

What an invited person can do

They can open, upload and delete the workspace's files, search them and ask questions, and see its conversations and activity. They cannot delete the workspace or invite others. Their searches and questions appear in their own Usage › Logs, not yours.

They canFrom code
Open filesGET /v1/workspaces/{workspace_id}/files
Upload filesAn upload that names the workspace_id
Delete filesDELETE .../files/{file_id}
Search and ask questionsAutomatic search and QA
Delete the workspaceNo
Invite othersNo

An API key acts as the member who created it, so a key made by an invited person has exactly their access, and no more. Deleting the workspace is refused:

curl -X DELETE https://console.nace.ai/v1/workspaces/$WORKSPACE_ID \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NACE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "confirm_name": "fy25-audit" }'

The answer is 403:

{
  "error": {
    "type": "permission_error",
    "code": "access_denied",
    "message": "Only the owner account's owners and admins, or the workspace's creator, can delete it.",
    "retryable": false
  },
  "request_id": "req_0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef"
}

The message is illustrative; branch on type and code.

Remove, leave and delete

  • On People, withdraw an open invitation, or remove someone who joined; you can invite them again later.
  • An invited person can leave a workspace from their Workspaces list.
  • If you delete a workspace, the people you invited keep seeing it in their list, marked as deleted by its owner, until they remove it. Nothing in it is left.

From code, the workspace stops being one the invited person's key can use:

WhenWhat their key gets
They were removed, or left404 workspace_not_found, and the workspace no longer lists.
The owner deleted the workspace404 workspace_not_found. Jobs it recorded stay readable by their account.

See Errors for every status.

Next steps

Manage the workspace itself with Manage workspaces, or put files in it with Workspace files.
